Part 8: 1:25-29: “Our Ministry – 2 of 2”

Ok, so we are (of course) continuing our study of the letter that Paul had written to the Colossians tonight, and I’m confident that we’ll be able to close out Chapter 1 this evening. If you were here last week, you’ll know that we were really only able to cover the 1 verse, Verse 24, so tonight will serve as the 2nd Part of our 2-Part look at these final 6 verses of Chapter 1. 

So if you have brought your Bibles this evening (and you haven’t already done so) turn with me to the book of Colossians. We’re in Chapter 1 and specifically we’re going to be in verses 25-29 but we’ll read from Verse 24 since 24-29 is all part of 1 thought. So let’s read the text together, starting at verse 24 through 29 and I’m reading from the ESV, the English Standard Version:  

[24]  Now I rejoice in my sufferings for your sake, and in my flesh I am filling up what is lacking in Christ’s afflictions for the sake of his body, that is, the church, 

[25]  of which I became a minister according to the stewardship from God that was given to me for you, to make the word of God fully known,

[26]  the mystery hidden for ages and generations but now revealed to his saints. 

[27]  To them God chose to make known how great among the Gentiles are the riches of the glory of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory. 

[28  Him we proclaim, warning everyone and teaching everyone with all wisdom, that we may present everyone mature in Christ. [29]  For this I toil, struggling with all his energy that he powerfully works within me.
